CRCC Asia trip to the Beiing hutongs

It’s easy to feel a little apprehensive before embarking on an internship in Beijing. Maybe you’ve heard it will be complicated, or take forever to organise. CRCC Asia to the rescue! We debunk 4 myths about interning in Beijing with CRCC Asia, and explain how our Program can help you out during your adventure abroad:

Myth 1. Don’t I need to be fluent in Chinese to intern in Beijing?

Not so! In fact, many international companies operating in Beijing use a mixture of English, Chinese and other languages throughout the working day. Host companies are excited to gain an international perspective on their industry, and demonstrating the ability to work in a multilingual environment is a huge boost to your personal development. Nevertheless, it’s always awesome to take up the opportunity to learn a new language, so we’ve added weekly Mandarin lessons to our China Internship Programs as well!

Myth 2. Won’t an international company be the same in Beijing as it is in any other country?

Definitely not! An international company may have shared core values and processes across their global offices, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have to abide by local rules and customs in China. That’s why we offer hints, tips, and seminars on Chinese business culture throughout your Program. Not so sure about the importance of business card etiquette in China? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back!

Myth 3. It’s a huge city…won’t it be impossible to find my way around?

While it’s definitely not a myth that Beijing is huge, it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the city. Beijing has one of the world’s largest metro systems (with translations!), buses on almost every central street, and thanks to the new bike-sharing revolution, greener transport options are pretty cheap too. CRCC Asia Program Managers are also available to call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so we’ll always be there to give you a helping hand.

Myth 4: It’ll take a long time to organise, right? Maybe I need to wait until next year

Because we’ve been offering programs in Beijing since 2007, we have a huge network of partner companies ready to take you on, meaning there’s still last-minute places available on our Summer 2018 China Programs.
